It has been nearly four months since I posted my last blog. Like so many others who struggle to blog consistently, I started with good intentions, but didn’t follow through — mostly because the format I thought I should be putting out there didn’t energize me. I had the desire to write and create something helpful to put into the world, as so many of my colleagues successfully do, but couldn’t figure out what to do or how to do it in a way that motivated me.
Then I had a thought. What if I took current me and reintroduced her to younger me? A Xennial who loved to listen to Top 40 countdowns and consumed every year-end list she could find, the one who spent hours combing through magazines and clipped out “10 Ways to…” articles for quick reference in her journals. The one who hated arriving at a movie late because she missed the trailers and therefore the excitement of seeing the newest ideas to hit the screen in a fun, condensed format.
Spoiler alert: Younger me still exists in a grown-up, hopefully more capable, form.
That’s why I’ve decided to change the format of my blog. My goal is to give you something useful to read that will help you on your professional journey. I also know people are overwhelmed and often need something quick they can absorb. I also love lists.
Starting Wednesday, May 5, my blog will present The Fresh Look Editing 5, a monthly list of 5 quick tips editing, writing, and freelance professionals can use and share. I’d love to hear what you think each month, so please share your thoughts with me on Twitter, LinkedIn, or through my website. Follow along on social media using #FreshLookEdit5.
Happy reading, everyone!
